Do I need any special utensils to cook Indian cuisine?
The traditional Indian home is often uncluttered and simple — containing only what is needed and wasting very little. That same mentality comes across in the kitchen, where you’ll normally find very basic cookware. So, in general, no special cookware is needed for Indian cooking. However, in today’s modern world, there are some items that will make cooking easier.

Tava (cast iron griddle)
|
Virtually every Indian kitchen has a cast iron griddle used to make unleavened breads like roti.

A pressure cooker is a common (but optional) cooking utensil in an Indian kitchen because can speed up the cooking time for staple dishes such as rice, dal, or slow cooked meats. |
All these items can normally be found at stores that sell cookware.
